Little League Now Requires A Background Check
little league volunteer coaches will now be required to pass background checks. according to CBS news, Little League International announced multiple changes on wednesday, including mandatory background checks for coaches and personnel involved in running teams. These will include checking names in the national sex offender registry.
Little League has changed its game by adopting new rules to speed the games up. Major League has pace issues because the TV ratings that have dropped over the years and people would rather do some other stuff than watch baseball. And that is fine.
However, among all the new rules, this one is the weirdest.
It is more in the “sign of the times” category. Little League will now require criminal background checks of records for sex offender registry data and other criminal records. And the organization is no longer going to allow report cards from school to be used to prove a player’s residency, a nod to the apparent increasing use of “ringers” by some teams.
