Court Clears Way For NFL Concussion Payouts
The Supreme Court has rejected challenges to the estimated one billion dollar plan by the NFL to settle thousands of concussion lawsuits filed by former players. The lawsuits accused the National Football League of hiding what it knew about concussion risks. The league denies the claims. The court’s action lets payouts begin to former players who have been diagnosed with brain injuries linked to repeated concussions. The settlement covers more than 20 thousand NFL retirees for the next 65 years.
